123 Movies 2 iPad is a spin off of the popular DVD software 123CopyDVD that was released way back in 2005. Keeping the trend of manipulating your media, Bling Software takes their sights off of the optical disc backup and is setting the trend for converting your DVD’s and videos into a format suitable for the iPad. The really nice thing about 123 Movies 2 iPad is that it not only supports the iPad but it supports all devices as well. This is one featue that sets this software apart from the others in this category. Most only focus on supporting the MP4 and M4V formats which is native for iOS devices. 123 takes it a stap further and supports a whole range of video formats that support all types of playback devices including Android Smart Phones, gaming consoles (XBox 360, PS3, Wii), tablet devices, and any thing else that can play back video.

During our test we converted the movie Laser Mission which is 1:24 in legnth. We left the default settings as they are for optimal iPad viewing and choose Movie Only mode which only convert the movie, not the entire disc which is what we wanted. Total conversion time took around 22 minutes and the final output size of the movie was .96GB.
The standard video output setting for me are a bit low since I want to take advantage of the Retina Display. By default they are set for size optimization which reduces the file size which is nice but that cuts into the video resolution. For the kids they don’t mind the lower bit rate of the video so leaving it as-is is probably good enough for most. But for the videophiles you might want to step up the settings for optimal video resolution to get that true HD picture. This of course increases the converting time and file size. The same 1:24 movie took 52 minutes and a final output size of 3.5GB. So really it all depends on what you are looking for in terms of video quality, just know that the ability to control this is there.
123 Movies 2 iPad is really a nice software for working with downloading online video, DVD movies, downloaded movies, or any other video that you already have.
