Lawrence J. use our “Ask the Burning Geek” contact form to ask the following question: “I just installed a Lacie D2 Blu Ray burner on my windows 7 PC. I want to put blu ray movies onto my iPad, how do I do this?”
So instead of replying to him directly I figured this would be a good opportunity to reply to anyone that want to know how this is done. So Lawrence thanks for writing in and keep reading for your answer.
Converting Blu Ray into the proper size and resolution is actually an easy task if you use the right software. There are dozens of ways of which you can rip a Blu Ray and then convert it into the proper format and then manually load into iTunes and manually Sync. I like to keep things simple by using 1 tool to do all of these steps without me having to intervene in the middle of it, so that’s what I will focus on here.
I was introduced to iSkySoft Video Converter Ultimate ($59) earlier this year by a fellow blogger. At first I wasn’t that excited to try out another video converter app but I did anyway because I had just received an iPad and wanted to see how easily it would convert video into this format. A regular occurance that happens with video converters is that at some point during the conversion it would fail and I would need to start over with the clip. But with iSkySoft I have yet to have a conversion fail or stop during the process and I am now using it probably once or twice a week, whenever Netflix delivers.
What I really like is the ease of use. Look at the screenshot below to see the UI of the software.
All you need to do is drag and drop the video you want to convert or load the disc you want to convert, choose what format to convert the video into, and click the Convert button. If you are converting it for an Apple product like the iPad then a tick box will appear and ask if you want to upload to iTunes once complete. If yes then expect to find the movie waiting for you to sync up with your iPad.
Take a look at just some of the devices this software will convert video into:
As you can see you just simply choose what device you have.
By far this is the best video converter I have used to date. I did a more in-depth review on our main site, read our iSkySoft Video converter Ultimate review. If you want a headache free easy to use converter I would recommend downloading this one and give it shot if you want to convert Blu Ray or any video into iPad format.
