OK first let me ask this? Does anyone even have records anymore? I know my dad does and I probably have a few in the attic. I never even thought of how I could get that music into digital format. I would just think buy the album again on iTunes. But why should you need to buy the same thing twice is the question that keeps running through my mind.
A co-worker of mine just showed me an new gadget that can take records and convert them into digital format. It’s pretty neat or should I use the word neat-o in this case.
Basically it’s a USB record player and by using the included software you can capture, edit, clean-up, and convert the music into digital which you can then either burn to an Audio CD or transfer to an iPod or music player.
If your need something like this or didn’t even think you needed something like this, take a look at the VinlyToUSB Converter here.
I’m always curious on what our visitors use to do certain projects. Have any of you ever converted records to CD’s or into digital formats? Let us know in the comments section below on what software you have used and what methods have worked the best.
Here are some other LP to CD or MP3 devices that should be hot this holiday season.

I’m using a turntable and software I got at Costco. I forgot I’d bought one, so about 18 months later I bought another. I finally got one unboxed and installed on my backup system, and it is working pretty good. It requires iTunes to do the recording to MP3 format, which it does after finishing recording a whole side of an LP. Sometimes I tell it not to separate into tracks, and label the result as Side 1 or 2. *ION is the brand name (starts with asterisk). I’m generally happy with the result, but any dust causes pops, just as it would when playing the LP directly. I think it cost about 70.00 at Costco. I can’t remember what I paid for the first one. It files the results as temp files with a number in your music home directory with Unknown Artist\Unknown Album as the directory path. I’ve found that opening an explorer window and double clicking on the track opens Wndows Media Player which shows the song name and artist, so I rename the temp file to the track name, them move it to the proper directory and album name. Hope this helps.
These devices have been around for a number of years now. I have had one for about 3 years now and love it! Of course you still need to be careful not to bump or jostle the turntable (just like the good ole days). You get that beautiful pop & crackle, that gave records there personal touch.
What is cool is vinyl is making a big come back due to it’s quality reproduction on the low end, which cds can not reproduce. And of course digital audio losses quality on both the low & the high end.
I would something like this, I have a huge collection of vinal and would love to convert it so I can play it on my smart phone or burn to cd, if the price is right or even free.
if you already have the turntable

I Does this conversion with a record player connected to a home C D recorder
I don’t see an appropriate tag, so I’ll just stick it in here -
I write my own music – channel “xynergistix” on YouTube. I’ve received the ISRC’s for my songs, and need to embed them into the cd tracks. CD Architect does a good job, and the ISRC’s show up when I analyze the cd with Tau analyzer. When I enter the ISRC’s under Properties in Nero, they don’t show up on the analyzer. Does anyone know of reasonably priced or free software for embedding ISRC’s on a RedBook standard cd?
I just stick a stereo shielded grounded audio jack into the turntable straight into the laptop mic socket, and record on Audacity, which allows me to remove any snap crackle and pops and then store as MP3, wav, etc.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
