Free MacX Video Converter Giveaway

Another week down and another free software to giveaway. Today I alerted to a free video converter that works for both Windows and Mac users (our first giveaway for Mac users, finally). This is a $50 software that the software vendor Digitary Software is giving away for free. There are no hoops to jump through, just go to their download page and download the free MacX Video Converter Pro.  Also note they are also offering their Video Converter Pro Pack upgrade for 60% off, that’s a great deal if you are looking for additional features like DVD Ripping and Video Downloading functions.

Ok so what exactly does this Free Video Converter do?

Remember that this is normally not a free software so don’t think that the term ‘free’ is lacking in features or functionality.  This is a $50 software which is being offered for free for a few more days so take advantage of it while you can.  With this video converter you can convert both to and from SD and HD Video including the following formats:

  • MKV
  • AVCHD
  • AVI
  • MP4
  • WMV
  • MOV
  • FLV
  • RM
  • Google TV
  • tons more

Full Support for Converting Video for Apple Products

One of the nice things about owning an Apple device is the ability to watch movies and videos on it.  As Apple device owners already know there is not an easy way to get the video onto the device unless you buy something through iTunes.  Now with a video converter that can convert your video into the proper format you can easily get any movie or video you want onto your device and play away.  This software has options availalbe to pre select the correct video screen resolution for your device whether it’s an iPad, iPad 2, iPod Touch, or iPhone.  In addition to supporting Apple devices this converter also converts for other devices like the PSP, PS3, XBox, Zune, Android Phones, etc….  So whatever gadget you have you can have video on it in no time.

DVD Burning Functions too??

A hidden gem with this software is that it also includes the ability to burn the converted videos to a blank DVD disc.  So you can create a standard DVD from your videos that you can take to your home theatre DVD player and playback on your TV.  Note that the functionality of the feature is limited in this free edition by not offering custom menus or video editing capabilities, so don’t expect the created project to be on the same level as Speilberg.  But still, for being a free software it’s a very useful feature to indlude.

Take a look at the screenshot below of the user interface of the Windows edition (Mac has a very similar look)

As you can see it’s a pretty straight up menu with a video preview window and an easy navigation to select which video format you want to be converting the video into.  More advanced features for each format let you decide on the Audio quality of each video up to 128kbps and the audio sample rate.  Control the loudness of the audio by adjusting the slider.

Video quality settings are also included where you can adjust the video frame rate and the final video resolution. Different codec setting are included if you prefer one over the other.  You can also specify how many CPU Cores to use if you have a multiple core processor. Very nice setting to utilize if you want to convert your video in the background and still want to work on other tasks.

So in all this is a great Free Video Converter so I would recommend at least taking a look at it if you want another quality software for free.

  1. Seems like a fine tool for many, but what I’d like to find is something for converting VHS to DVD disks. I bought one tool which rejected copy protected tapes. I don’t plan on throwing away the tapes after I make DVDs, I’ll box ‘em up and put them in the garage, like my LPs.

Bill, try something on this page for VHS to DVD http://www.burnworld.com/software/video/vhs-to-dvd-review.htm

  3. Rob Boirun says:

Note to all: after you download and install the software it will ask you to purchase or try the demo. Check the downloaded zip file for a serialnumber.txt file this includes the serial number you need to input to make it an unlocked full free version.

Great post. The Mac version works perfect for me. :)

  11. Ian Pride says:

Hello I installed the Windows version and used the register code in the text file but it says Invalid license. I tried typing it and copy and pasting it. I counted the x’s in the example and it seems there are 2 more character places than are provided at the end of the code. I downloaded it twice and got the same serial.
