Nero 11 Updated for More Multimedia Goodness

In the days of old many users flocked to Nero as the burning tool of choice for creating and burning their data to CD and DVD discs.  Over the years as multimedia made more of an impact in our daily lives the need for simple disc burning became something to overlook.  The developers at Nero grew with the industry and started to create more software that allowed you to manage your multimedia is easier ways.  Introduced a few years ago, Nero Multimedia Suites began to offer users ways to capture their video from camcorders or cell phones, convert video into DVD format, edit and author DVD video, and improve on ways to back up and burn your data to DVD and BD.  The basic functionality of the old Nero Burning ROM is still included which many users have used as the defacto standard for backing up data to physical discs.  However in the latest incarnation of Nero 11 introduces us to a feature called Nero Kwik Media Library which is the central media gathering place for all of your multimedia files.  This library is accessible to all of the separate tools included in Nero 11.  This makes organizing and accessing your videos, digital photos, and music much more user-friendly and easy to access.

Android and IOS5 Devices Supported

To keep up with the trends of smart phones and multimedia, Nero 11 now supports all Android powered devices as well as Apple iPhones, iPod’s and iPad’s.  Built into Nero 11 is the ability to sync all of your movies, music, digital photos, and ebooks to any of your devices wirelessly.  This replaces the need for the clunky iTunes for Apple devices and the randomly good software for syncing to Android devices.

“Nero 11 was completely rebuilt with straightforward interfaces, pre-configured settings and clear instructions that help users of any skill level produce results quickly,” said Martin Stein, Nero’s senior vice president of global products. “Best of all, it grows with a user’s skills and needs. Advanced users can have a deeper level of control over every setting when they need it and want it.”

Other Updated Applications in Nero 11

As mentioned previously, Nero Burning ROM 11 still offers the same convenience of burning any of your content to CD, DVD, or BD.  What’s new is the upgrades to their proprietary SecurDisc, DiscSpan, and SurfaceScan technologies which offers security to your burning projects as well as delivering perfect burned discs each and every time.

Nero Video 11 has been updated with a much improved timeline which gives you the ability to easily create your video projects by incorporating your audio and video tracks and giving you the ability to control the final output of your video masterpiece.  The Express Editor gives video novices an entry-level authoring tool to create their movies, while more advanced features such as picture-in-picture effects, enhanced special effects, and a faster video output gives more seasoned videographers more band for their buck.

Nero BackItUp 11 now includes a feature called Nero LIVEBackup which provided continual backups of your most important data.  Just set it up once and let the backup happen automatically.  You can even restore accidentally lost or deleted files, or if you have a system failure/crash you are no longer out of luck because accessing these backups is a simple operation.

Nero Recode 11 offers the ability to convert any of your videos that you have to a format that your device requires.  Pre built-in video settings are already included for Android devices (smartphones and tablets), iPhone, iPod, and iPad.  So converting video for these devices is a snap and can be done with a few button clicks.  This software also has the ability to extract audio tracks from movies and certain parts of an audio  track.

All the other bells and whistles are included too. To see a full lineup of what Nero 11 has to offer please see our full review of Nero 11.

Nero 11 is available from today for download  for an intro price of $79.99 and if you want to work with Blu-Ray video there is a Platinum version for $109.  You can buy or try Nero 11 here.

How is it that no one mentions the lack of Tivo file support? Granted it is isn’t one of the popular formats, but the fact that Nero had a product called Liquid TV which was in essence Tivo for your PC, should have raised eyebrows.

I was told that the reason Nero did not include it was that they did not want to pay for the licesing fee. Which means to me that they’re too cheap. And since Roxio quasi supports Tivo files, why waste your money if you’re like me and already have version 10.
