Verbatim BD-R 4x & BD-RE 2x Media Review
Introduction
We were sent a box full of shiny and new media from Verbatim to perform our Blu-Ray tests with. To be exact we received 4x BD-R and 1-2x BD-RW media, recordable format version 1.2. This is really the first tests we have done with BD media. So comparing it will be difficult since we have nothing to compare it to.
However what I can base it on is by using VSO Inspector- VSO-Inspector is a free add-on to report various information about your hardware configuration. It can check the listed cd and dvd readers and writers connected to your computer, & check the firmware used. The details about the media used and the speed supported by a given writer with this media. Also you can scan a burnt media for read errors and be confident about the readibility of your fresh backup.
Also note that we review media from a consumer standpoint which we think is: Is the Media reliable or will I get expensive coasters? We realize that not all of us want to know the science behind why it works, we just want to know that it does work.
Hardware used: LaCie d2 - Firmware version 1.0
Here is the detailed media info on the 1-2x BD-RE
And the media info from the BD-R

The higher capacity that Blu-ray media provides has contributed to its growing adoption rate, but it also makes disc integrity even more vital. Unlike current BD-R discs, in which the inorganic recording layer is made by the sputtering process and requires a huge investment to increase the production capacity and meet growing market demands, the organic recording layer for BD-R LTH TYPE media can be applied using the same dye spin coating process as CD-R or DVD-R media. As a result, Verbatim will be able to begin mass production of its BD-R LTH TYPE by modifying existing CD-R or DVD-R production lines. With the investment in BD-R LTH TYPE production less than current BD-R production, Verbatim believes that technology will break down the barrier to entry into BD production and expects many CD/DVD manufacturers will be joining the BD world.

So our initial results '100% good' is great for the latest BD-R media from Verbatim. So we give this a safe buy if you are looking for quality BD-R media.
