Review of Blue Cloner 3:
Blue-Cloner was the first to the market in the Blu Ray Copy field just as it was one of the first to hit the scene when copying DVD's became a fad. It's predecisor was one of the most popular DVD apps in history and still is a forerunner. Now the Blu Brother is born and looking to take the same fame for Blu Rays. It's functions are very similar to the DVD version. You basically have a few options to either copy the entire disc, to copy it to your hard drive, or to shrink it so it will fit on a single layer 25gb BD-R or BD-RW.
As you can see from the screenshot the interface is very simple to understand. Not too much going on here since it's only function is to backup a Blu Ray. Choose your Blu-Ray drive to start with and then choose the output device. It could be either the Hard Drive, another Blu Ray Burner, or the same drive that you are using. After choose the audio and video settings and if you want to backup the movie only or to make a perfect disc to disc copy. We chose the Blu Ray edition of Jumper as our backup test subject. Using our Pentium i7 box with 8GB of RAM the entire backup process took around 2:30. We selected the movie only setting in hopes that it would work faster. But because of this setting it took longer since after the original was copied the software had to then restructure a new BD project and then conclude with the burning. If we did a straight up disc to disc copy it probably would have gone faster by a few dozen minutes. But keep in mind if you want a disc to disc copy and the entire disc is larger than 25GB then you will need to use a dual layer 50GB BD-R. Other Features of Blue Cloner are: ¦- Movie only copy - remove unwanted movie features, including subtitles and prohibition messages See the video demo of Blue Cloner in action.Upgrades The Blue-Cloner 3 is constantly in development. This is to ensure the latest copy protection codes are readily decrypted to enable seamless reproduction of Blu-ray discs. Now, when you purchase this product, you will be entitled to one major program upgrade and at least seven minor upgrades within one year. Any further upgrades after the one-year period will require payment of fees first before they can be obtained. Of course, if you opt not to acquire the paid upgrades, you can always just use the original version without any problems and time limit. Blue-Cloner 3 is one of the more acclaimed products out there. For one, the program is rather easy to use. Pop in a disc in the drive, and it will automatically detect it, so all that you will need to do is to put in your desired settings. And as if getting an intuitive product is not enough, you get satisfactory after-sale support too. Of course, getting all these for a reasonable price is perhaps the best perk. Overall Impression: Our review of Blue Cloner 3 is basically a good overall app for cloning Blu Ray discs. If that is your primary goal then this guy will do the job just fine. Their constantly updated backend is a great feature and a must since Blu Ray protections are always being updated and adjusted. |
