Contest Alert!!!  I will be giving away 10 copies of 123 Movies 2 iPad+ on May 25th.  To enter just use the social buttons above.  Simply Like, Tweet, +1, Pinterest, Linkshare or a combo of any of them and then leave a comment at the bottom of this page about which movie you will convert 1st after you win.  That’s it, good luck to all!

Ok, the most popular question I get daily is how do I put DVD movies or video on my iPad that isn’t in iTunes already? Well the answer to that is pretty simple. The iPad required a certain video format for correct playback, thus you need a converter for your existing video or DVD movies. Since the iPad is new there are not a lot of software makers on board yet that have an iPad video converter available. However the good news is that some of the stronger iPod Video Converter makers have tweaked their code to support the iPad as well. Wondershare was always a reliable software for the iPod and when I testing iPad converters this was what I went to first. It’s probably the best bet this early in the game for the iPad.

Quick Summary of our top rated picks:

Wondershare Video Converter Pro

This receives our top recommendation for a number of reasons. 1) Easy to use 2) Video quality 3) Conversion speed.  When combined together it includes a total package from which you can work with any video you have including ripping DVD movies.  Yes even DRM protected movies can be converted and put onto your iPad.  In addition, Video Converter Pro supports all video playback devices including game consoles, tablets, smart phones, etc…

4Media iPad Max

Another software that works with all types of video files is iPad Max from 4Media.  These guys are an overseas software developer that have been developing audio/video software for over 7 years. This is the most expensive offering that we reviewed.  While the features and quality are present I’m not sure that the higher price tag warrants this software better than the others.  But overall it’s a rock solid software from a proven developer.

Tipard DVD to iPad

Another offering from a newer development team called Tipard.  These guys have their claim to fame with their overall Video Converter product which supports all video formats.  However with this entry they have made it a simple operation specifically for iPad owners.  If you don’t have other gadgets to worry about and only have an iPad then this software was made for you.  It’s rated lower on our charts because of this, but don’t let that take away the capabilities of the quality and speed that Tipard brings to the table.

Cucusoft DVD & Video to iPad Converter

Cucusoft has been around for a good 6 years and really has not progressed that much over that time.  Other than to update their titles to support all the new gadgets, their user interface remains one of the more boring looking offering on the market.  But the video converting capabilities of the software are solid and get the job done.  This package includes support for both basic converting for the iPad and a DVD ripper for converting DVD movies.

Aiseesoft DVD to iPad

Aiseesoft is a software developer in China that is hitting the market hard with their development results.  While they do offer a good selection of software choices their attention to detail might be lacking a bit.  During our test Aiseesoft offered good results but the overall impression was not very memorable. I had a better user experience with Wondershare and 4Media.  Aiseesoft does offer a less expensive model if you want the option to support iPad video only.

Top Reasons Why You Should Use a DVD to iPad Converter

If you are unfamiliar with converting video into iPad format then by utilizing a software that specializes in this type of conversion is the right thing to do. All the titles in this category will easily and automatically do the conversion for you and even already has presets that are optimal for each type of iPad including the new iPad.

iTunes does not support ripping or converting of DVD movies.  I know I am used to using iTunes for ripping my music CD’s to add to my library, but when it comes to DVD movies iTunes fall short.  This is understandable because decrypting DVD movies it’s not in Apple’s best interest.  But the problem still remains for those that want to convert their purchased movies into a format that they can take with them.  One of the most requested features from iTunes users has been the ability to rip and convert DVD and that is why you would want to use a 3rd party software that does this task.
