Nero 2015 Classic BurnWorld Review: Features
Playback and Streaming
Nero 2015 includes a media center called the Nero MediaHome. Nero MediaHome serves as a simple solution to access all of your photos and video files in one, convenient location. You can stream these file formats to just about any mobile device, play back nearly any known video format type, and even store your files in the cloud via the media center.
Burning and Archiving
In this respect, Nero 2015 sticks to its roots. All the features that made Nero famous in the past is still present in this version. You can burn files to CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. They store the information securely via the Nero SecurDisc feature. If your files are too large for one single disc, you can always split them up. Discs can also be copied through Nero. You can also opt to create compilations of DVD quality video files, BDMVs and AVCHDs.
Nero 2015 includes several ‘Hollywood-grade’ editing templates. You can edit across multiple input tracks and opt for special key-frame tools. The program also includes effects, transitions, and numerous text fonts (which include sizes and colors).
As mentioned above, Nero now includes a feature that allows you to manage all types of files. You can geotag your photos/videos or browse through your geotags using the MediaBrowser Places app. The Nero Cloud is a storage facility that allows easier access to your files. Nero simplified the all-in-one launcher for ease of access.
Ripping and Converting
The program’s Recode dropzone allows you to store videos and images for on-the-go access. The program also includes a needed hardware acceleration feature, which makes converting files faster than ever before. Files can now be converted directly from CD, AVHCD or DVD to cloud storage or mobile devices.
The Nero Media Home Receiver App allows you to stream directly to your mobile device. Nero AirBurn enables you to send mobile-stored files to the core Burning ROM app over any Wi-Fi connection. The program includes no fewer than 5 manual apps designed to help you learn how to best use the program.
- Streaming to and from mobile devices was a much needed addition to the 2015 version of the classic ripping and burning software. It works like a charm!
- The media center and cloud storage facilities make the work of on the go filmmakers and videographers far easier than ever before.
- Though not comparable to professional editing software such as Adobe’s Premiere, Nero’s native video editing app functions well for first drafts and amateur home videos.
- The new additions to the program suite made it feel a bit more bulky than past editions. If you don’t plan on using all its features, Nero 2015 might seem a bit overwhelming at first. But, considering that Nero 2015 sells for the same price as before, that means you get far better value.
- Nero 2015 is not exactly cheap. In its defense, it delivers plenty of functionality and bonus features for the standard $99.99 price tag. As is always the case with new releases, prices should drop in the coming months.
5 out of 5 stars
Despite the premier price tag (which it rightfully earns with it’s incredible value and added features), Nero 2015 remains one of the most solid software burning suites on the market at the moment. It definitely delivers on its promises. Not only does it rip, burn, copy, split files and compile them with great ease (and little use of system resources), but the upgraded conversion speed boost of this year’s version is considerable. And since this is a program released for 2015, the seamless Wi-Fi and mobile integration transform it into a genuinely modern and complete software suite. We recommend it wholeheartedly, and it stands a good chance of winning our software of the year award! Do yourself a favor; click here to check it out immediately!
